Welcome to the Hutton Roof Parish Council website.

Hutton Roof is a civil parish in the South Lakeland district of Cumbria, close to Kirkby Lonsdale.
The new Parish Council took office on 7 May 2019 following an uncontested election.
There are currently 4 parish councillors and one vacancy.  The Parish Council is seeking to fill the vacancy by co-option of a new councillor - please contact the Clerk or Chair if you are interested in becoming a councillor.  See advertisement here.
CORONAVIRUS COVID-19 - For information about coronavirus, advice and changes to council services visit https://www.cumbria.gov.uk/ (Cumbria County Council) and https://www.southlakeland.gov.uk/ (South Lakeland District Council).
Many people in the community are offering help and support to those who need it during the pandemic (eg help with shopping, collecting medication etc).  If you need help, please contact Judi Morgan on 07595 218342 or judimorg@aol.com.
Hutton Roof Parish Council works for the benefit of the parishioners of the area and covers a range of issues, from considering planning applications to helping with individual concerns impacting on the parish. We aim to keep the parish a pleasurable and secure environment in which to live and work. To help achieve this we hold regular Parish Council meetings, at which we discuss all matters openly. Everyone is welcome to attend these meetings and we look forward to seeing you there.
South Lakeland District Council is reviewing and updating its Local Plan.  The Local Plan provides policies on housing and economic growth, whilst protecting the environment and addressing climate change.
The Plan allocates sites for housing and other developments such as new employment sites.

Local government reorganisation in Cumbria

The Secretary of State has announced the proposal for Local Government Reorganisation in Cumbria.
Subject to Parliamentary approval, he is proposing two unitary councils – an East unitary council covering the existing areas of Barrow, Eden and South Lakeland and a West unitary council covering the existing areas of Allerdale, Carlisle and Copeland.
This means that Cumbria County Council and the six district/borough/city councils will be abolished and two new authorities created.  Parish and town councils will not change but there will be impacts on local councils.  If approved, the new authorities would go live on 1 April 2023.
